Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).
A series of large highway projects have been awarded to major construction firms in China, following agreements with the authorities in Shaanxi. New highways will be constructed by China Gezhouba Group Corp (CGGC) to link Tingchang with Huang Long and Ningshaan with Shiquan.
Singapore’s Land Transport Authority has awarded a design-build contract for a stretch of the North-South Corridor to Japanese firm Penta-Ocean Construction and Bachy Soletanche Singapore.
Construction on the 1km tunnel between Suffolk Walk and Novena Rise, estimated to be worth around US$584 million, will start by the first quarter of 2019, according to a statement by the Authority.

The tender process is still underway for three sections of the new super highway project to connect Nagpur and Mumbai in India. Meanwhile 10 of the contracts for the Nagpur-Mumbai Super Communication Expressway (NMSCE) have now been awarded. The NMSCE highway project will provide an improved transport link between Nagpur and Mumbai, which are around 690km apart. The NMSCE highway is expected to cost a total of US$6.8 billion to construct.
