Construction works have begun on the Yichang section of China’s new Yichang-Yueyang expressway. Covering 51.8km, the Yichang expressway section will cost around US$613.35 million (CNY 3.82bn).
A legal hiatus has delayed the construction of a highway in Tanzania linking Tunduru, Matemanga-Kilimasenra, Namtumbo, and Songea. Work has been suspended by the Tanzanian authorities following a dispute over whether the Progressive Constructions-Higleig Joint Venture (Progressive-Higleig) building the link has met performance targets. Meanwhile, the Tanzanian Ministry of Works is implementing four road upgrading projects in Tabora worth a combined value of around US$ 221.47 million (TZS 351.70bn).
Around US$1.82 billion (€1.34bn) may be spent improving Spain’s motorway network, according to an investment plan submitted to the Ministry of Development by Aseta, the national motorway operators’ association. Execution of the plan submitted on behalf of Itinere, Abertis and Ferrovial would be in exchange for an extension on the management contracts on their managed motorways, or a raise in toll charges. A pre-feasibility study is being planned for Vietnam’s Hoa Binh-Moc Chau Expressway project. Construction of the expressway is expected to cost US$857.4 million, with the work being handled under the PPP model. The 85km is planned to feature two lanes in either direction. Construction of the expressway is expected to reduce journey times between Hanoi and Son La, close to the border with Laos, from six hours at present, to just 2.5 hours in the future.
