Chilean government to spend US $ 41.62mn on roads for Transantiago

In a bid to maintain services and reduce travel times for the Transantiago public transport system, the Chilean government will invest US $ 41.62 million in repairing and upgrading nearly 150km of roads in Santiago. Works are expected to be completed in 2013 and will include 31 different districts across the capital.

Bidders included Spanish firm OHL as well as Besalco Concesiones-Concesiones Viarias Chile Tres and Sacyr Concesiones Chile.     In Peru, the Metropolitan Municipality of Lima is expected to approve in August 2013 a US$400 million underground viaduct project, including a 10km double-carriage way road and a 1.5km tunnel under the Cerro Centinela.
