China's Guizhou province has major plans for highway investment during the 2011-2015 time period. In all there are plans to develop some 2,993km of expressway. The plans will require an investment of US$82.8 billion.
China’s Guizhou Province looks set to gain from a major new highway construction programme. A budget of close to US$24.9 billion has been set for the construction of 11 highways in Guizhou Province. One of the priority projects will be the construction of a new highway connecting Anshun with Duyun. In all the highways will measure a total length of around 1,000km. Guizhou Province currently has some 6,100km of highways.
China is still moving ahead with plans that will give it the world's biggest highway system. Patrick Smith reports. As China's economy grows even more, keeping the country on the move has become a priority for the government. While the country has made great strides over the past decade in improving its infrastructure, the number of vehicles has also increased rapidly, and in some instances restrictions have been placed on them.
China’s Liaoning Province is expanding its highway network with a programme of upgrades and new construction. By the end of 2015 Liaoning Province will have up to 4,500km of highways. The province is building some 2,600km of highways for the 2011-2015 period. In all there will be 20 new highways, with the work costing US$14.36 billion in all. The authorities in the province are also spending $17.5 billion on road development during the 2011-2015 period.
