China's Guizhou province has major plans for highway investment during the 2011-2015 time period. In all there are plans to develop some 2,993km of expressway. The plans will require an investment of US$82.8 billion.
Shiyan City in China’s Hubei Province has seen a major increase in its road and highway network, due to significant spending on road construction in the area. Between 2011 and 2015, the total length of the road network in Shiyan City increased to 26,989km, following spending of some US$7.07 billion on road construction by the authorities. Major plans for infrastructure investment have been set out by the authorities in China’s Gansu Province. In all some US$79.9 billion is planned to be spent over the next six years. One of the key aims of this infrastructure programme is to improve China’s transport links with Central Asia. China’s Guizhou Province is developing its transport infrastructure with a major programme of works being scheduled. Construction for six new highways is commencing during 2019, with the work being planned and managed by the Guizhou Provincial Transportation Department. These six highway sections will all feature at least two lanes in either direction, five of which will be for traffic speeds up to 80km/h.
The 162km Nayong to Qinglong highway however will be for speeds up to 100km/h, is costing over US$5.
