A further €450 million is being budgeted for bridge and road repairs and maintenance in Germany by the Federal Ministry of Transport. The country has a serious problem with the condition of bridges on its Autobahn (motorway) network.
The funding will be used for bridge repairs and construction by the state-owned road firm, Autobahn GmbH. Special funding for works to address the effects of climate change will be made available during 2025. A further €709 million will be made available by the German Finance Ministry in due course.
