Maintenance and improvement works to the busy N4 tolled highway worth $55 million are being carried out by the concession holder, Trans African Concessions (TRAC). The A4 links Pretoria and Johannesburg with Mozambique and TRAC was awarded the concession for the 570km route in 1997.

Contractor TauPele Construction has a $32.5 million package of works to improve the stretch of N4 between Solomon Mahlangu Drive in Pretoria and Bronkhorspruit. Contractor ACTOP Construction is carrying out the $22.5 million project to maintain and improve the N4 between the Van Dijksdrift Interchange and Wonderfontein.

TRAC manages the N4 for the road agencies of South Africa (Sanral) and Mozambique (ANE) under a 30-year concession agreement. The tolled highway runs across South Africa, passing through the capital Pretoria, and links with Maputo, the capital and main port for Mozambique.
