Benninghoven’s mobile asphalt plant
May 24, 2019
Benninghoven says that its new ECO asphalt mixing plant combines high output and mobility, while its TBA asphalt mixing plant is now available with a hot-gas generator for the first time. Made in the firm’s German factory, the new ECO plants can produce 100-320tonnes/hour of asphalt. The new plants are said to combine the latest innovations in asphalt production technology from Benninghoven with a high standard of manufacturing. Mobility is a key feature as the plant comes in compact container sizes. Thi
New shotcrete material machine from Blastcrete
May 22, 2019
US firm Blastcrete Equipment says that its new Dampcon Rig offers a complete system for pre-dampening and installing dry process shotcrete materials. The rig features a variable speed mixer, conveyor and gunite machine. This is said to suit it to concrete repair and precise refractory gunning installations. The Dampcon Rig features Blastcrete’s 020 Piccola Rotary Gunite machine for precise control of its output. This is said to allow the unit to deliver an output of up to 4.7m3/hour. The firm claims that
High production at high altitude for Liebherr’s Compactmix 1.0
May 20, 2019
A Liebherr Compactmix 1.0 is supplying the construction site for the V-cableway - or V-Bahn - project in the Swiss mountains with concrete. The project was a challenge both in terms of logistics and on-site operation. The Grindelwald-Männlichen Gondola Cableway company and Jungfraubahn railway company are planning to build a V-cableway that will open up both the Eiger Glacier and the Männlichen (Bernese Alps). From a joint terminal in Grindelwald-Grund, a tri-cable aerial cableway will lead to the Eiger
Beton bets on Amman’s CBS 120 SL Elba Concrete Mixing Plant
May 15, 2019
Ammann has assembled a plant that it says is highly competitive on price and performance for its customer Thomas Beton, a concrete supplier near Hamburg. Thomas Beton is among the leading producers of high-quality ready-mix concrete in northern Germany with daily deliveries to infrastructure sites as well as residential, commercial, industrial and agricultural projects. The new Ammann plant – the ninth Ammann-Elba solution for Beton – means that Beton is strengthening its local physical proximity to cu
Increasing concrete batching plant output
May 15, 2019

South Korean company Hansoo Road Industry has developed an ultra-thin hot mix asphalt pavement layer, Recover asphalt, designed to overlay cracked pavements at a depth of between 10 and 20mm. “Our company has been studying asphalt modifiers since 1999 and has know-how on research and development of asphalt modifiers,” said Yulia Min, manager at Hansoo Road Industry. “Recover asphalt was developed through a four-year study based on the previous studies of asphalt modifier technology.” Recover asphalt has
Shell Bitumen’s new technology cuts air-polluting emissions by 40%
May 15, 2019
Shell Bitumen has developed molecular technology that cuts 40% of air-polluting emissions -Kristina Smith reports Shell Bitumen is launching a new technology which drastically reduces the amount of harmful air pollutants produced when asphalt mixes are manufactured and laid on the roads. Called Shell Bitumen FreshAir, it reduces six of the seven pollutants produced by at least 40%. The seventh, ozone, is produced in too small an amount to measure changes. “The World Health Organisation has said that 90%
Boral and Global Ecofuel enter the biofuel and bitumen arena
May 9, 2019
An Australian government agency has awarded around US$350,000 to two companies to investigate the production of bitumen and diesel from wood waste. If successful, Australia’s state of New South Wales could become home to the world’s first biorefinery turning sawmill residues into renewable bitumen and diesel, according to ARENA - the Australian Renewable Energy Agency. Under the $842,000 million study, Boral Timber, a major supplier of hardwood and softwood in Australia, will explore the technical and
