Kenya halting road tolling plan

The Kenyan Government is suspending construction of toll stations along major highways. The plans to implement toll stations along the country’s key highways have been suspended by the Ministry of Transport. The government has also directed Kenya National Highways Authority (Kenha) to stop the publicisation of the programme. Billboards along the highway announcing the introduction of road tolls were also to be removed.
Egis wins Indian road operation and maintenance deal

Egis is now working on a new contract for Vindhyachal Expressway Private Limited (VEPL) on India’s National Highway 7. The three year concession is for the 73km National Highway 7 (NH-7), which connects the main city of Rewa and Hanumana of the Indian federal state of Madhya Pradesh. Egis is in charge of toll collection, route patrolling and incident management and routine maintenance of a section of the stretch (40 km) with one toll plaza of 6 lanes.
Spanish firm keen to develop Chilean projects

Spanish infrastructure firm Abertis is keen to develop a series of projects in Chile. In all the projects are worth over US$900 million. Abertis has presented these projects to Chile's Ministry of Public Works. This move follows the acquisition by Abertis of the remaining 50% stock holding in the country's Autopista Central motorway concession. This was bought from Canadian fund manager Alberta Investment Management (AIMCo) for over $1 billion.

Egis Projects and its partner Fulton Hogan Construction have won a major contract for the operation and maintenance of the WestConnex highway link in New South Wales Australia. The package was awarded by Sydney Motorway Corporation (SMC) to Fulton Hogan Egis O&M (FHEO&M). The partners hold equal 50% shares in the project. Traffic congestion is seeing an increase in the Netherlands as the economy improves, according to the mobility institute Kennisinstituut voor Mobiliteitsbeleid. The congestion is expected to increase the travel time by 45% by the end of 2020. In total the congestion is expected to increase by 20% in 2015 compared with 2014.
