EMCOR Group subsidiary Welsbach Electric has been awarded a contract to install electrical street lights for the New York City Department of Transportation (DOT). The company will be responsible for furnishing and installing 83,000, state-of-the-art electronic, energy efficient cobra head streetlight fixtures throughout the the city's boroughs of Manhattan, Staten Island and The Bronx.

The Iowa Department of Transportation in the US has selected Peek's AxleLight non-intrusive laser axle sensors installed in a permanent site along Interstate 35/80 in Des Moines. This is the first time that the AxleLight sensors, normally designed as a temporary study tool, have been installed in permanent roadside cabinets. The sophisticated Cellocator unit from Pointer Telocation allows fleet managers to listen to what happens inside a vehicle during emergency situations. A panic button can be used by the vehicle driver to activate the hands-free unit, which can also provide voice communications between the driver and a fleet manager in the office.

Part of the E20 European highway, the Norra länken aims to make a valuable contribution to easing congestion in central Stockholm. The construction of Norra länken is one of the biggest and most important road and tunnel projects being undertaken in Sweden, certainly in terms of scope and budget. It will be a link in the peripheral route around the Stockholm inner city area and be part of the E20 European Highway.
