Colorado construction contract to cut congestion

A new road tolling plan will help cut congestion in Colorado. The Colorado Department of Transportation (CDOT) has a US$1.8 billion project proposed to expand toll lanes for sections of Interstates I-25 and I-70. The project will address sections of the east segment of I-25 and to a stretch of I-70 as this is seen as the best way to tackle congestion in this area of the network. Repairs, rebuilding and revamp for Russian roads

A major programme of repairs and rebuilding is being carried out on Russian roads in the country’s North-Western Federal District during 2014. In all close to US$144 million is being spent in a programme of works with upgrading 258 separate infrastructure projects. The work is being carried out on 293km of public roads in all, while work is planned on a further 400km of roads during 2015.
Contractors plan building Bangladeshi expressways

Plans are moving ahead in Bangladesh for a series of new elevated expressways that will be constructed in capital Dhaka. Chinese contractor China Railway Construction Corporation and Ital-Thai Development Corporation have signed an agreement that will see the two firms working jointly on the expressway project. Tender process in hand for Polish ring road project

The tender process is opening for new road connections in Poland. Ring roads are planned around the Polish city of Radom as well as the town of Gora Kalwarii while there are plans for a new dual carriageway section of the S8 between Radziejowice and Paszko. Construction work now underway Mexico City-Puebla highway

Construction work is now commencing on the second level of the key Mexico City-Puebla highway. The project is costing some US$766.4 million, with funding being sourced jointly from federal and regional governments as well as a number of private investors. The highway is being built by a number of firms including OHL and Pinfra. The construction project is expected to require 24 months to complete.
New Canadian highway project moving forward

The new Regina Bypass Project in Canada is gathering momentum, with construction due to start in mid-2015 and expected to be complete in the third quarter of 2018. The project is benefiting from US$183.63 million (C$200 million) of federal funds and includes building the 40km highway class bypass itself, a 5km section of dual carriageway between the bypass and Highway 6 and 10 overpasses. Kuwaiti company claims contract for causeway connection

Kuwaiti construction firm Mudeer Contracting Company (Mudeer) is carrying out the five-year contract to operate and maintain a 25km causeway connecting Saudi Arabia and Bahrain. The US$44.8 million contract commences in October 2014. Mudeer’s contract also includes operating and maintaining the border control facilities between the countries. The King Fahd Causeway provides and important connection between the countries, carrying over 8 million vehicles in 2013.

In Poland the tendering process is underway for a new dual carriageway project. The project is for another stretch of the S3 dual carriageway, which will link the cities of Legnica with Bolkow. The Philippines is setting major targets for road development in coming years. A planned budget of US$2.59 billion has been set for infrastructure in the city of Luzon for 2015. And the Department of Public Works and Highways plans to pave some 32,227km of the country's national roads by 2016, with only 83% so far having been paved. New cross border connection between Serbia and Macedonia

Plans are in hand in Macedonia for the new highway that will run from Bar to the Serbian border. The Macedonian Government recently held talks with Chinese construction company CRBC with regard to the project. The Chinese contractor is commencing construction once a loan from China’s Exim bank is fully secured.
