Polaqua signs S6 dual carriageway deal and Tri-City contract

Polish contractor Polaqua has signed a deal worth €193 million to design and build a 20km section of S6 dual carriageway. Completion is scheduled for mid-2021. Polaqua will also build a 3km section as part of the expansion of the ring road around the Tri-City area in northern Poland. Tri-City incorporates the three cities in Pomerania - Gdańsk, Gdynia and Sopot, as well as surrounding minor towns. They are situated along the coast of Gdańsk Bay on the Baltic Sea. Thailand traffic plan to cut Bangkok congestion

A planned series of road improvement and upgrade works is intended to help reduce Bangkok’s chronic congestion problems. In all 204 road projects are planned for Bangkok or the surrounding area. The work is expected to be carried out from 2019-2030, with a value of some US$9.26 billion in all. A major road development will be the establishment of a new link connecting Myanmar with other countries in South East Asia. The new highway will allow drivers to travel from Myanmar to Thailand as well as Vietnam and Cambodia. A loan worth US$144.3 million from Thailand will help pay for the section of the route in Myanmar between Dawei and Hteekee. The key infrastructure policy adviser to US president Donald Trump has resigned, according to US media reports. DJ Gribbin is "moving on" to pursue unspecified opportunities, a White House official told the Washington Examiner newspaper. SBI International Holdings will carry out US$93 million of road construction works in Guatemala. The works will be for the upgrading of four sections of road in Alta Verapaz and Quiche that measure just over 144km. Tanzania projects funding from Kuwait

Funding has been secured from Kuwait for a series of major infrastructure projects in Tanzania. One of the main projects will be for a series of road upgrades in the city of Dodoma. Another project will be for improvements to the 257km road connecting Morogoro with Dodoma. The US$207.3 million loan has been made available to the Tanzanian Government via the Arab Economic Development Fund. Cambodia-Thailand connection construction commences

Construction is now underway for the project to build Cambodia's National Road No 5. Costing in the order of US$185 million, the project also includes building two city bypasses. Much of the funding for the project is being supplied in the shape of a loan from the Japanese Government. This 85km route is of key importance to Cambodia as it will provide a link from the capital, Phnom Penh, to the border with neighbouring Thailand. New Russian highway PPP construction deal

A huge highway project is intended to boost connectivity between Russia’s Stavropol Region and Krasnodar Region. The US$3.5 billion project is intended to be carried out under the PPP model and will require private financing. The highway will connect Mineralye Vody with Sochi but further details about the plans have yet to be revealed.
Colombia Caribbean connections under construction

Colombia is working on plans to redevelop transport infrastructure in its Caribbean Region. In all nine road projects are underway, which will cost a total of US$2.8 billion. New highways will connect Cartagena with Barranquilla, Carreto with Cruz del Viso and Antioquia with Bolivar. Also being built area route running through Santa Marta Riohacha, Paraguachon and Cordoba-Sucre as well as part of the Ruta del Sol highway.
