He sat down with SaMoTer event manager Sara Quotti Tubi to get the inside track on this year's event and the evolution of the Italian industry showpiece.

Bitumen is changing,” says Massimo Menestrina, CEO of Menestrina, which manufactures specialist bitumen processing plants. Menestrina is at the forefront of these changes. Its air-blowing and polymer modification technologies are being used to improve the performance of poor-quality bitumen, and it has invented a new process which promises to transform recycled tyre rubber into a binder which can be used instead of bitumen.

Attachment specialist Indeco notes a growing demand for products compatible with smaller-sized excavators, with the company looking to increase its range in response to this market trend.

Additionally, the plant needed enhanced levels of flexibility, security and safety.

FAE, which manufactures attachments for skid steers and excavators, is expanding its offering for road construction. The latest addition is to its family of asphalt planers was unveiled for the first time at SaMoTer 2023 in May: a 1m-wide attachment for skid steers, RPL/SSL/DT, which joins FAE’s existing three planers which are 450mm, 600mm and 750mm wide.

Carmix’s self-loading mobile concrete mixers have always been successful in developing markets and remote locations where there are no nearby static plants to supply jobsites. But now contractors are interested in reducing waste and carbon emissions in developed countries by using these small, mobile plants.
