Thailand road repairs to tackle flood damage

Serious flooding in Southern Thailand has caused extensive damage to roads and highways. In a bid to restore these transport links the country’s Highways Department's Highways Maintenance Management Bureau has set a budget close to US$103 million.

Serious flooding in Southern Thailand has caused extensive damage to roads and highways. In a bid to restore these transport links the country’s Highways Department's Highways Maintenance Management Bureau has set a budget close to US$103 million. In all 348 bridges and 134 sections of roads have to be rebuilt or repaired. The plans call for the construction of culverts under 38 road sections that suffer from regular flooding. The work should be complete by 2018.
