Road repairs planned for Nampula in Mozamique

In Mozambique a budget of US$100 million has been set for road rehabilitation work to be carried out in Nampula Province. The upgrades will be carried out for a total distance of a 300km and will be carried out in phases. Work will commence in 2015. The road improvements will be carried out on the Nametil-Nampula city, Moma-Nametil city, Angoche-Moma, Monapo-Angoche and Angoche-Nametil sections of road.

In Mozambique a budget of US$100 million has been set for road rehabilitation work to be carried out in Nampula Province. The upgrades will be carried out for a total distance of a 300km and will be carried out in phases. Work will commence in 2015. The road improvements will be carried out on the Nametil-Nampula city, Moma-Nametil city, Angoche-Moma, Monapo-Angoche and Angoche-Nametil sections of road.

In addition, Empresa de Desenvolvimento de Maputo Sul (EDMS) has unveiled its plan for the new Maputo/Catembe suspension bridge. The 680m bridge will link the south and north shores of Bay channel, with work due to start in 2015. The bridge will feature two 137m towers as well as two anchor blocks. One of the towers will be constructed over the Maputo bay waters. The other is likely to be built in the port of Maputo. The project will not exceed its original budget of $725 million, according to EDMS. China Road and Bridge is in charge of the Maputo Ring Road project as well as for the Maputo/Catembe bridge.

    The 300m bridge deck of Sunderland’s New Wear Crossing has been successfully launched across the river.

    The 4,750tonne concrete and steel deck was resting on the south side of the River Wear from where it was inched across to touch the north side in a 20-hour operation. It had to slide through the twin arched towers of the bridge’s double pylon on its way to its final position to connect the city regions of Pallion to the south and Castletown to the north.
