The South African equipment rental firm Lambson’s Hire has boosted its fleet with the addition of new lighting equipment. The company has added eight Trime X-ECO LED lighting towers to its equipment rental fleet. The units were supplied by Mayday Equipment, the official South Africa distributor for Trime.

The company opted for these particular units after following the lead set in the South African Government initiative, The Green Economy Accord. Lambson’s Hire said that it decided to purchase the Trime X-ECO LED units because they score well in terms of low environmental impact. Trime has calculated that its novel X-ECO LED technology uses approximately £336 (R5890.00) less in fuel/month, when compared to a traditionally illuminated lighting set. This equates to a reduction in CO2 emissions/month from 1,224kg to just 336kg, meaning an overall monthly decrease of 888kg according to the firm. The order was placed by Rohan Lambson, founder and owner of Lambson’s Hire. The lighting towers will be shipped to Mayday Equipment in Airport Park, Germiston and fitted onto locally manufactured four-wheeled trailers, a common requirement for the mining industry.

Lambson’s Hire first opened in 1980 when founder and owner, Rohan Lambson, set up in Orange Grove. Having had experience in equipment hire in Australia, Rohan identified a similar need in South Africa, eventually building the business into one of the largest rental organisations in the region.

The company hires a large range of mechanical and non-mechanical equipment to both industry and the general public. Aside from its 14 outlets, Lambson’s Hire has two specialist divisions - Compact Plant and Concrete Surface Preparation.
