Kobelco says its Japanese-manufactured SK55SRX midi excavator suits duties in confined sites due to its short tailswing design and offers low fuel consumption, low exhaust emissions and low operating noise

2200 Kobelco is now introducing its novel SK55SRX midi excavator to Europe, which is equipped with the innovative integrated noise and dust reduction (iNDr) technology. This proven method of dust filtration is combined with efficient engine cooling and reduces working noise output, suiting the machine to urban operations.

The 5tonne machine features a short tailswing design, as well as innovations said to improve work efficiency and reduce operating costs.

Features include a new dozer blade design to minimise over-spill during levelling and a maximum tail overhang figure of just 190mm. The SK55SRX has a small working footprint suiting it to work in confined working spaces, although it also has a larger upper structure with a roomy cab and good stability.

Power comes from a Yanmar 2.189litre diesel delivering 28.3kW and fuel savings of up to 23% over the firm's previous model due to an energy saving mode. Upgraded hydraulics are said to allow fast and smooth work operation as well as further aiding fuel economy.
