Bobcat is offering backhoe loader models designed for emerging markets
1130 Bobcat has a new range of backhoe loaders aimed at the Middle East and Africa. The four models are the B700, B730, B750 and B780 and offer a choice of different specifications for diverse applications in duties such as construction, utility, rental, roadworks, demolition and excavation.

All four models are powered by a 299 Perkins diesel with direct fuel injection that delivers 74.5kW at 2200rpm and maximum torque of 408Nm at 1350rpm. The engine features a high-quality filtration system for longer life, and has single-side service components to lower maintenance needs.

The machine has a two-year powertrain warranty and the firm offers a choice of four-speed synchroshuttle, powershift or auto powershift transmissions in the different models. Gear shifts are said to be smooth and top speed is 40km/h. Other features include return to dig and ride control systems and all the models have open centre hydraulics and are equipped with tandem gear pumps with high flow capacities as well as 720 Michelin tyres.

The B700 and B730 have a choice of an open canopy or an enclosed cab, while the B750 and B780 are equipped as standard with an enclosed cab. These backhoe loaders are said to be manoeuvrable and versatile for a range of applications such as digging, trenching, breaking and material handling.

For loader applications, there is a choice of general purpose or 6 in 1 buckets and other optional equipment for versatility and productivity.

The B700 is an entry-level machine with a synchroshuttle transmission and cab or canopy and 2WD or 4WD options. The B730 has a powershift transmission, and is controlled by mechanical levers. The B750 has the same features as the B730, except for larger diameter front tyres and a hydraulic joystick control system. The B780 is driven through a standard auto powershift transmission, while it is said to be manoeuvrable and can be steered using either two-wheel steer, four-wheel steer or crab steer. The low-effort loader joystick controls in the B750 and B780 provide precise control.

The Bobcat backhoe loaders are designed to provide easy and quick access to the engine compartment and other locations to service and maintain components at ground level by simply removing the side panels. Refuelling of the tanks is also accomplished from ground level and the tanks are protected with a lock matched with the ignition key.

The excavator and wheeled loader segments represent massive sales volumes for manufacturers, so new model development is prioritised - Mike Woof writes. The crawler excavator segment accounts for a substantial portion of total sales of construction machines. With this in mind, it is no surprise that this is a market segment for which manufacturers prioritise a significant proportion of their research and development budgets. Wheeled loaders, while not selling in quite such large numbers as crawler excava
