161 Atlas Copco (AC) Construction & Mining has unveiled a new combi cutter, the CC 950, and two new bulk pulverisers.

To enhance the appeal of the new products, AC has created a dedicated microsite to offer customers easy access to information about its entire silent demolition range.

The CC 950 features a 360° hydraulic rotation device, said to enable attachments to be placed in position quickly and easily. With an operating weight of 920kg, the CC 950 can be fitted onto carriers between 9 and 16tonnes, and exerts a crushing force of 55tonnes. This is said by AC to make the CC 950 perfectly suited for less demanding demolition work, such as eliminating masonry and lightly reinforced concrete structures.

Keith Lambourne, AC’s heavy hydraulics attachments manager, said: “The CC 950 combines low weight with optimum crushing performance, and represents a highly cost-effective crushing option due to the fact it can be combined with a smaller excavator.”

Thanks to their innovative angled shape, AC’s two new bulk pulverisers are recommended for secondary demolition tasks, such as the additional reduction of reinforced concrete elements. Available for carriers of 18-35tonnes, the new pulverisers feature broad jaws to ensure structures are demolished with fewer bites. The huge jaw dimensions are also said to promote energy efficient high throughput, with speed valves shortening the opening and closing time of the jaws to ensure less fuel consumption during pulveriser operation.

Information on AC’s full range of hydraulic demolition tools, including the newly launched CC 950 and two bulk pulverisers, can be found on the dedicated Silent Demolition range microsite. Visitors to the microsite can access detailed product pages and specifications, as well as a product selector to help choose the right attachment for desired application and carrier requirements.

The AC microsite can be viewed here.

French contractor DSD Démolition was one of three firms that worked on the recent demolition of the A55 highway flyover in Marseilles, France. The 20-year-old flyover stood near the harbour and formed part of a main route through Marseille leading to Lyon and Avignon. However, it was an ugly structure and spoiled the city's landscape so as part of the wider regeneration taking part in Marseille's harbour, the 1.3km bridge had to be demolished within three months. DSD Démolition had two operators for each of
