Work to commence on new Philippines expressway

Work is due to commence in 2017 on the new Cavite-Laguna Expressway in the Philippines. This 47km route will run along the coast to the south of capital Manila, with its north eastern end lying close to the city’s international airport. The route connects Cavitex in Cavite's Kawit with the SLEx-Mamplasan Interchange in Laguna's Biñan. The project will improve connections to the airport as well as from Manila to the southern end of Luzon.

Work is due to commence in 2017 on the new Cavite-Laguna Expressway in the Philippines. This 47km route will run along the coast to the south of capital Manila, with its north eastern end lying close to the city’s international airport. The route connects Cavitex in Cavite's Kawit with the SLEx-Mamplasan Interchange in Laguna's Biñan. The project will improve connections to the airport as well as from Manila to the southern end of Luzon.

This will be one of the country’s largest PPP projects to date and is expected to cost around US$728 million. The project is being handled by a subsidiary of Metro Pacific Investments Corp (MPIC). Australian firm 2474 Leighton Holdings will build the north eastern end of the expressway and DMCI Consunji will build the south western end of the route. The construction work is expected to take until 2020 to complete while the concession period for the route runs until 2050.
