Vietnam building major new bridge

In Vietnam work is now underway on the Bach Dang Bridge project. Costing some US$356.5 million, the new bridge will connect the Ha Noi-Hai Phong Highway and the Ha Long-Hai Phong Highway. The 25m wide bridge will measure some 3km long in all, spanning the Bach Dang River. Much of the funding for this construction project is being supplied by Quang Ninh Province People's Committee.     Work is underway on an important highway improvement scheme in Vietnam. The project involves upgrading the Gia Lai-Binh Dinh section of National Highway 19. The work is being carried out under the build-operate-transfer (BOT) model. The actual construction work is scheduled for completion during 2015. The project is costing US$95 million and involves work to a 56km section of the route. The concession package has been agreed under a 22 year deal.

    An agreement has been reached in Vietnam for construction of a bridge over the Dong Nai River close to Ho Chi Minh City. The proposed 4.5km, six-lane cable stayed structure – the Cat Lai Bridge - could cost as much as US$268 million. It would replace the Cat Lai ferry service that runs between Nhon Trach District of Dong Nai Province and District 2 of Ho Chi Minh City. The bridge would also become a major route to the international airport, according to local media. The ferry service carries on averag
