Strong interest in Slovakia highway project

Strong interest is being shown in a major highway project in Slovakia. The tender process is attracting a series of bidders for what will be Slovakia’s largest ever highway contract. Strong interest is being shown in a major highway project in Slovakia. The tender process is attracting a series of bidders for what will be Slovakia’s largest ever highway contract. The project is expected to be worth some €4.53 billion in all and involves the construction of a bypass around capital Bratislava.

A series of major firms are interested in the bidding including 2661 China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), a consortium headed by 4084 VINCI Concessions and a consortium comprised of 979 Bouygues Travaux Publics, Metrostav, 6009 Inzinierske Stavby of Slovakia and 5533 Intertoll. Also interested are a consortium headed by 981 Hochtief, a constorium lead by 1324 Astaldi and another by 945 Strabag.

The Portuguese contractor Monte Adriano will construct the section linking Nadlac with Pecica.   • Polish road tender underway

    Plans are underway for the Warsaw Ring Road project in Poland. Italian contractor Astaldi made the lowest offer for the project at €289.95 million. The work calls for a 4.6km section of the route to be constructed, including what will be Poland’s longest road tunnel once complete. There have been 10 bidders for the tender, being handled by the Polish road authority GDDKiA. Other bidders included the Porr Polska consortium and a construction consortium comprising contractors Budimex and Strabag.

  • Construction of Slovakia’s D3 stretch to start by end of 2016

    Construction of the 5.6km stretch of the D3 motorway Cadca, Bukov - Svrcinovec in Slovakia could start by the end of the year. The tender was rolled out in May 2015 by the Slovak national motorway operator NDS and the final contract was recently signed for the €239million deal. Winners are the consortium of Hochtief from Germany and Austrian firms Strabag and PORR. Completion is schedule for 2020.   • Slovakia’s D4/R7 zero bypass of Bratislava picks up award

    Slovakia’s D4/R7 zero bypass of Bratislava has picked up the Best Transaction in Europe award given by the UK magazine Project Finance International. The Ministry of Transport and Construction received the award in London in early February. The ministry said that the contract is notable for being the first whereby a project had combined funding from European Union investment and structural funds and the EU fund for strategic investment.
