Strong interest in Slovakia highway project

Strong interest is being shown in a major highway project in Slovakia. The tender process is attracting a series of bidders for what will be Slovakia’s largest ever highway contract. Strong interest is being shown in a major highway project in Slovakia. The tender process is attracting a series of bidders for what will be Slovakia’s largest ever highway contract. The project is expected to be worth some €4.53 billion in all and involves the construction of a bypass around capital Bratislava.

A series of major firms are interested in the bidding including 2661 China Communications Construction Company (CCCC), a consortium headed by 4084 VINCI Concessions and a consortium comprised of 979 Bouygues Travaux Publics, Metrostav, 6009 Inzinierske Stavby of Slovakia and 5533 Intertoll. Also interested are a consortium headed by 981 Hochtief, a constorium lead by 1324 Astaldi and another by 945 Strabag.

  • Slovakia; Bratislava approves road budget for 2016

    The Slovak capital Bratislava has set aside €44.5 million for road construction and repairs during 2016. The road budget is part of next year’s general budget of nearly €281 million from which public transport will receive just over €70 million and integrated transport systems will get nearly €3 million. World Highways reported in June that controversy continues to surround a proposed D4 motorway bypass around Bratislava and what tunnel option under the Little Carpathian Mountains is the best value.

    Sacyr subsidiary Sacyr Concesiones is leading a consortium to will build and operate the Road 2 and Road 7 routes in Paraguay. The Road 2 route will connect Asunción and Coronel Oviedo. Meanwhile the Road 7 route will run from Coronel Oviedo to Caaguazú. Construction is expected to cost US$520 million with the concession package being for a period of 30 years.
