Paraguay road tenders being planned

A series of tenders for major road projects is planned in Paraguay during 2016. The country's Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will launch tenders with a total value of US$2.27 billion. A series of tenders for major road projects is planned in Paraguay during 2016. The country's Ministry of Public Works and Communications (MOPC) will launch tenders with a total value of US$2.27 billion. The Ministry of Public Works and Communications will prioritise works including construction of the first stretch of the Bioceanic corridor, La Costanera Sur road and the 147km-long export corridor. The plans call for projects worth some $1.8 billion to go to tender in the first half of 2016. These projects will include widening the Ruta 2 and Ruta 7 highways from two to four lanes, rebuilding Ruta 9 between Remanso and Mariscal Estigarribia and also upgrades to Silvio Pettirossi airport, in the Central Department.

    The authorities in Paraguay are planning a bridge project that will improve connections in its border area with neighbouring Argentina. The project forms part of a US$170 million plan for infrastructure projects in the border area between Argentina and Paraguay. Other works include a new port terminal in Pilar and improvements to the Alberdi-Pilar highway. The majority of the funding will be directed towards work on the Remanso Bridge and the road section that connects with the port of Falcon.
