Loan for Nepal highway project

A new highway project in Nepal will benefit from a loan provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB). The loan is worth nearly US$187 million. It will be used to help upgrade the country’s East-West Highway. In addition, the loan will will also be used to improve other key sections of Nepal’s road network. Key stretches of the 45km Bhairahawa-Taulihawa road as well as the 115km Narayanghat-Butwal road will be upgraded.     Funding is being secured for a road rebuild and widening project in Tajikistan. The 82km road runs between Dushanbe and Bokhtar and the work should be complete by 2023.     The project to widen Managua’s Pista Juan Pablo II highway in Nicaragua has taken another step forward to commencing. Nicaragua’s Government is giving its approval for a loan to pay for the project. The US$105.4 million loan will be provided by the Central American Bank for Economic Integration (CABEI). Further funding worth $136 million is being provided by the European Investment Bank (EIB), with $33.4 million coming from the Nicaragua Government.
