Japanese loans to help fund Indian road projects

Five road projects in India will benefit from funding provided by loans from Japan. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is to provide loans worth a total of US$738.65 million to fund five road projects. These will form part of the North East Connectivity project, which has been planned by the Indian Government. The work includes upgrade works to the northeast road network, while the Indian Government has also dedicated a portion of the funds to upgrade the Aizwal-Tuipand, NH-51, and NH-54 road

Five road projects in India will benefit from funding provided by loans from Japan. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is to provide loans worth a total of US$738.65 million to fund five road projects. These will form part of the North East Connectivity project, which has been planned by the Indian Government.     The Nepalese Government is to receive a loan from the Japanese International Cooperation Agency (JICA) for a key tunnel project.     The Ugandan Government has unveiled plans to improve its road connections with its northern neighbour South Sudan. To fund the construction project, the Ugandan Government has been seeking a loan worth US$210 million from the Islamic Development Bank (IDB).   • Road paving plan proposed for Mozambique

    An ambitious road improvement scheme has been proposed by the Mozambique Government. The programme of works calls for the paving of 2,100km of roads by 2019. The scheme will address both national and regional roads across the country between 2015 and 2019, covering around 420km/year of roads on average.   • Tanzanian project aided by Japanese financing

    Funding from Japan now looks likely to help pay for a highway project in Tanzania. The Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) is planning to offer US$1.4 billion for Tanzania’s New Bagamoyo Highway road project. The deal has yet to be finalised, but construction work should commence in June 2018, should all go to plan. Once the work starts, this will improve the connection between Mwenge and the Kawawa intersection.
