Indonesia is setting a massive infrastructure budget in place. Some US$29.52 billion will be invested in infrastructure under the 2017 budget. The country is planning to construct around 550km of new bridges and 9,400km of new roads.
A road repair and maintenance budget for 2019 has been set by Indonesia’s Ministry of Public Works and Housing. Some US$2.66 billion will be used to ensure that Indonesia’s major road and bridge links are maintained correctly. Bridge works figure largely in the plans for 2019.
According to a new report by Timetric’s Construction Intelligence Centre, 15 of the major economies in Europe are investing over US$1.43 trillion in road and rail construction projects in the coming years. Russia leads with investment of $433 billion, followed by the UK and France with $263 billion and $167 billion, respectively.

The infrastructure works will include building roads and bridges, with a projected budget of US$931.2 million. One of the main projects will be for the completion of the Trans Papua route, which should be ready for traffic by 2018.
