Indonesia infrastructure prioritised by government

Several major infrastructure projects are being prioritised in Indonesia by the country's government. Several major infrastructure projects are being prioritised in Indonesia by the country's government. In all 10 infrastructure projects are seen as so crucial for the country’s development that they will be pushed forward, so that work can commence during 2015. Because of the importance of the projects, companies may be appointed directly, instead of a formal tender being issued. The 1065 Indonesian Government is setting up a framework to provide legal protection for those ministries trying to speed up infrastructure works. The projects include providing water, sanitation and power, as well as transportation. For the transport sector, investments will be made in road, rail and airport development. Key highway projects that will commence this year as a result of the priority programme will be the US$2.07 billion second phase of the Trans-Sumatra highway and the $786.6 million Balikpapan-Samarinda highway in Kalimantan.
