China’s road development continues in Guizhou Province

China’s Guizhou Province is carrying out a major programme of road network expansion and development works. In all the plan calls for the construction of 97,000km of rural roads, which are being built in a bid to boost connectivity. Funding is being provided by the Bank of Guizhou and Bank of Guiyang in the shape of a series of loans.

    Construction work is underway in Uganda for a new expressway project. The 24km Busega-Mpigi Expressway project is being handled by the Chinese contractor China Civil Engineering Construction Corporation (CCEC). The contract is being overseen by the Uganda National Roads Authority (UNRA). Financing for the project worth US$143 million has been provided in the shape of a loan from the African Development Bank (ADB).     Nicaragua’s Ministry of Transportation and Infrastructure has awarded the first of a series of contracts to upgrade the NIC 3 highway. The construction work will be carried out by a consortium comprising contractors Constructora Meco, CEMEX and Llansa Ingenieros. This first phase will be for a 34.4km section of the route while the second stretch will be 15.6km long.     In Macedonia a new 50km section of highway will be constructed, with €574 million of financing coming from China's Export-Import Bank. The Exim Bank credit line to Macedonia will be used to build a the highway connecting Skopje and Stip. The new route will also link Stip with pan-European transport corridor 10.
