Chile project tenders due shortly

A series of major projects in Chile will be put out to tender by March 2018. These will be worth some US$4.08 billion in all. Further transport projects are planned for Chile and 2021, the total value of these will be worth an impressive $8.28 billion. A series of major projects in Chile will be put out to tender by March 2018. These will be worth some US$4.08 billion in all. Further transport projects are planned for Chile and 2021, the total value of these will be worth an impressive $8.28 billion. The country’s Chacao Bridge linking to Chiloe Island and Agua Negra Tunnel connecting with neighbouring Argentina are perhaps the two most notable and ambitious transport projects Chile will be working on. The tender process for the $800 million Principe de Gales-Los Presidentes stretch of the Americo Vespucio Oriente 2 highway should open during 2016. Also planned for tendering in 2016 is the Ruta Nahuelbuta highway, which will connect Biobio with La Araucania and is expected to cost $254 million. In 2017 the tender process for the Autopista Metropolitana de Puerto Montt, which is expected to cost $340 million. A further $1.3 billion worth of highway projects will be put out to tender in Chile between March 2018 and March 2019.

    Chile public authorities have presented an amended version of the Chacao bridge project, that will link Chiloe island with the mainland. Works for the 2.6km bridge will be assigned through a public competition and will cost up to US$ 740million, over US$ 200million less that the initial project presented by Puente Chiloe. The tender will be launched by the end of 2012 and should be assigned in 2013. The project is due for completion by 2019.
