Azerbaijan highway project receiving funding

A major highway upgrade project in Azerbaijan is receiving fuding from the World Bank. Under the terms of the deal the World Bank has approved financing worth US$140 million for the widening of the Baku-Shamakhi highway. The highway will be widened to four lanes, increasing capacity.

    A major highway project in the US state of Vriginia has been awarded to a joint venture team comprising Granite Construction, Parsons Corporation, and Corman Construction. The firms will handle the Interstate 64 (I-64) Southside Widening and High Rise Bridge, Phase 1 design-build contract, which was awarded by the Virginia Department of Transportation.     The authorities in Uzbekistan are planning for a series of major road projects in a bid to boost the country’s transport connections and freight handling capabilities. A total of 2,306km of roads will be either built or upgraded in the country by 2015.
