Azerbaijan highway project receiving funding

A major highway upgrade project in Azerbaijan is receiving fuding from the World Bank. Under the terms of the deal the World Bank has approved financing worth US$140 million for the widening of the Baku-Shamakhi highway. The highway will be widened to four lanes, increasing capacity.

    A budget of US$8.97 billion has been set as the limit on borrowing for India’s highways development programme for the 2017-2018 fiscal year. The financing agreement has been made by the National Highways Authority of India (NHAI), acting through the country’s Ministry of Road Transport and Highways. This substantial budget comes in spite of fewer projects being awarded as well as less financing having been secured during 2016.     The Central Expressway project in Sri Lanka is receiving funding from Japan, with a package worth US$940.7 million from the Tokyo Mitsubishi Bank of Japan. The contract meanwhile has been awarded to Japanese construction firm M/S Taisei Corporation. The firm will build a 32.5km section of the Central Expressway running from Pothuhera to Ramukkana and then to Galagedera.
