A new app available from 176 Case Construction Equipment is said to allow fleet managers deployment, maintenance and security information to be delivered to their tablet device. This sophisticated tool helps contractors make decisions based on information from the field. The SiteWatch app is designed for the iPad and is said to increase working efficiency, providing in-depth performance, productivity and maintenance data. The tool can delier actionable information to help manage fleet maintenance, optimise machine performance/utilisation, lower fuel consumption and idle time, and lower total operating costs. Among its features, the SiteWatch app provides the ability to review fleet details and locate machinery, review and create geofences and check utilisation and working status duration. It can also help, review the status of alarms received within a selected time period, analyse fuel consumption and monitor machine health through the report of key parameters set within the Web application. SiteWatch has an onboard communication device that monitors the machine’s CAN-bus network and transmits data to a designated user’s Web portal. The SiteWatch iPad app is available through the Apple iTunes store.

Demand for telematics technology is growing, as equipment users begin to lean the value of these systems – Alan Dron reports With construction projects increasingly operating to wafer-thin profit margins, any technological assistance that can keep the accounts in the black is welcome. This is particularly the case with those projects where contractors can share a larger slice of the profits if they complete their work ahead of schedule. The downside, of course, is that they also share the pain if the

Innovations in construction software are helping boost project efficiency and optimising project operations – Clive Davidson writes Over the past decade, while construction engineers have been putting up buildings or infrastructure, software engineers have been developing a parallel universe where virtual buildings or infrastructure can be created in ever increasing detail. What started with 2D architectural drawings in computer-aided design (CAD) systems, has become a multi-dimensional world, with 3D ge
