Vietnam’s key highway project feasibility study

The feasibility study is being handled for a stretch of Vietnam’s North-South highway project. The feasibility study is being handled for a stretch of Vietnam’s North-South highway project. The project is likely to cost US$5.22 billion, of which $2.8 billion will be provided by private funding sources, with the remainder coming from the Vietnamese Government’s sources. The project is being overseen by Vietnam’s Ministry of Transport.

Vietnam’s Department of Public-Private Partnership (PPP) Projects has urged the bodies involved with eight PPP sub-projects to complete feasibility studies for these within agreed schedules. Meanwhile, the tender process is being outlined for the My Thuan 2 Bridge. A contractor is to be selected to manage the feasibility plans shortly, with tasks including appraisal consultancy, environmental impact evaluation, site clearance framework and pre-feasibility evaluation.

  • Egyptian Government opening key project tender

    The Egyptian Government is opening the tender process for the Rod el Farag highway in July 2012. The highway project is expected to cost US$1 billion to construct and will be carried out in two stages. One section will run from Alexandria Desert Road to the Cairo Ring Road.     In Uganda planning is underway for the upgrade of the Kampala-Jinja route. Preparations are being made for a new tolled highway connecting with capital Kampala. The upgrade will see the route being widened with four lanes for much of the length, six lanes on the approach to Kampala and up to eight lanes where vehicle densities will be heaviest to carry the capital’s traffic. The construction work is expected to cost some US$74 million and the new link will connect with the existing Kampala-Entebbe highway.
