Financial issues have resulted in construction work being halted for Vietnam’s Ben Luc-Long Thanh expressway project. Financing for the initial portion of the work on the project has been provided by the Asian Development Bank (ADB) in the shape of a loan worth some US$350 million.

However, a second loan package of some $286 million from the ADB has not yet been provided. The various contractors working on the expressway construction halted operations over the shortage of necessary funding. Construction commenced originally in 2015 and the work is being overseen by Vietnam Expressway Corporation (VEC).
