Financing is being secured for Uzbekistan’s road improvement programme. A financial package worth more than US$274 from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) will help to pay for upgrade work to a 240km stretch of road. This road will be widened and improved, reducing journey times on the route connecting Guzar with Buhara, Nukus and Beyneu.

This follows on from a recent loan worth $165.5 million from the Asian Infrastructure Investment Bank (AIIB). The loan was directed towards improvements to a 78km stretch of the A380 route in the Bukhara region. The finance package from the AIIB is also helping pay for improvements on certain sections of the M37 highway in the Bukhara Region.
