A US$2 billion budget boost for Malaysia’s states.
The Malaysian Government is boosting the budgets being made available for the country’s respective states. This will ensure a major increase in budget for Sabah State and Sarawak State. A key benefit will be an increase in spending for road construction and maintenance works to local roads under the control of state authorities in Malaysia. This is expected to rise to around $1.22 billion compared with $1.174 billion in 2023. The Malaysian Government has made boosting transport infrastructure a major priority for the future, with several key projects underway at present.
