Two more construction tenders for Slovakia’s R2 by end of 2018

Arpad Ersek, Slovakia's Minister of Transport, said another two tenders for construction of two R2 expressway stretches will be called by the end of 2018. They will include the stretch Roznava-Jablonov nad Turnou with the Soroska tunnel and the Kosice, Saca-Kosicke Olsany. In both cases financing has been secured.

They could be financed through a loan or through the PPP scheme (public-private partnership). Ersek added that the ministry should receive an additional funds of up to €200 million through re-allocation of EU funds from other ministries which do not use up their EU fund allocations.

Last month, Slovakia announced that bidding for the R2 Krivan-Mytna expressway project - handled by the local highway firm NDS- had been extended. Bids opened in and will be closed this month. The project for the 9.1km route is expected to cost €280 million to build and should take 48 months to complete.
