Thailand’s new coastal road – plans being developed

Plans are being drawn up for a key coastal road project for Thailand. The project envisages the construction of a coastal road connection, forming part of the Thai Riviera development. The new road is being built in two separate phases, with the first of 683km and connecting Samut Songkhram to Chumphon, and the second of 578km and linking Chumphon to Songkhla. Work on phase two will commence in 2022. When complete, the road will provide a new connection between the Thai capital, Bangkok, and the Golok River

Plans are being drawn up for a key coastal road project for Thailand. The project envisages the construction of a coastal road connection, forming part of the Thai Riviera development. The new road is being built in two separate phases, with the first of 683km and connecting Samut Songkhram to Chumphon, and the second of 578km and linking Chumphon to Songkhla. Work on phase two will commence in 2022. When complete, the road will provide a new connection between the Thai capital, Bangkok, and the Golok River on the Malaysian border.

  • Thailand ring road project to be rerouted?

    Calls have been made for the route of Thailand's third western ring road to be changed. Locals in Ayutthaya, Samut Sakhon, Pathum Thani, Nakhon Pathom and Nonthaburi provinces are petitioning for the project to be diverted. The ring road will be largely elevated and stretch 98km in all. An analysis of the route and the possibility for changes is to be carried out. When complete, the new link will connect Rama II and Ayutthaya.
