Thailand traffic plan to cut Bangkok congestion

A planned series of road improvement and upgrade works is intended to help reduce Bangkok’s chronic congestion problems. In all 204 road projects are planned for Bangkok or the surrounding area. The work is expected to be carried out from 2019-2030, with a value of some US$9.26 billion in all. A planned series of road improvement and upgrade works is intended to help reduce Bangkok’s chronic congestion problems. In all 204 road projects are planned for Bangkok or the surrounding area. The work is expected to be carried out from 2019-2030, with a value of some US$9.26 billion in all. The road development programme has been planned by the Office of Transport and Traffic Policy and Planning (OTP), with the work to be carried out in three phases.     Plans are in hand in Canada to extend Highway 427 by 6.6km. The final decision over the project has yet to be made by the Ontario Government. The work is expected to cost in the region of C$500 million (US$491 million) to carry out. The work is required as the highway carries a heavy traffic volume and the extension will help reduce congestion in the surrounding area. The work should commence in 2017 once the necessary approvals have been given and the construction would then require an estimated 36 months.

    A series of highway upgrades will improve transport links in Vietnam’s Mekong Delta area. Improvements will be carried out to 52km stretch of the National Highway 53.
