The Pan-Africa Highway stretches from Egypt to South Africa, passing through eight countries in all

Financing has been secured that will help pay for the 110km ring road around Tanzania’s official capital, Dodoma. The US$180 million loan is being provided through the African Development Bank (AfDB). The AfDB is giving $138 million itself, while is also routing a $42 million loan through the African Growing Together Fund that it administrates on behalf of the Chinese Government.

A further $35 million is being provided by the Tanzanian Government itself. When complete, the ring road will connect with the 10,228km road link running from Cairo to Cape Town. The Pan-Africa Highway road connection runs through Egypt, Sudan, Ethiopia, Kenya, Tanzania, Zambia, Zimbabwe and South Africa. Several sections of the route are being upgraded at present.
