Tajikistan bridge building and infrastructure development

Tajikistan has plans to build 18 new highway bridges in its Gorno-Badakhshan region. This forms part of its strategy, ‘Strengthening of Critical Infrastructure for Protection from Natural Hazards’. Funding worth US$50 million for the programme is being provided by the International Development Association. The timeline calls for the bridge construction work to be complete by 2023.

  • Romania to build wildlife bridges over the A1

    Romania’s transport ministry says it plans to build animal crossings over the A1 motorway between Lugoj and Deva in the west of the country. The crossings will be over a 9km section of the A1 and cost around €180 million, said Razvan Cuc, the transport minister. nTenders will be issued for both the design and construction with work to start by the end of the summer.     The Eurasian Development Bank (EDB) and the Asian Development Bank (ADB) are planning to help develop infrastructure in projects in Armenia, Kazakhstan, the Kyrgyz Republic and Tajikistan.
