Sydney airport link over budget?

Concern is being expressed in Australia over the cost of the new highway connecting Sydney International Airport with the city. The M12 highway project was originally expected to cost US$881.65 million (A$1.25 million). However some reports suggest that the work may now cost as much as $973.34 million (A$1.38 billion). New solutions are being sought in a bid to reduce the cost of the project. Additional financing solutions are also being looked into for the work, including revised tolling options.

The route will run between Ashulia on the north-eastern side of the Bangladesh capital and Hazrat Shahjalal International Airport.     Nexus Infrastructure group has signed a contract with the Australian government to deliver the Toowoomba Second Range Crossing project in Queensland state, costing nearly US$1.2 billion.

    Nexus will design construct, finance, operate and maintain the 41km route that will bypass the city of Toowoomba, east to west.

    Toowomba and district, with a population of around 158,000, is inland 125km west of Queensland's capital city Brisbane, on Australia’s northeast coast.
