Highways England is launching its £3.6 billion strategic roads framework programme. This framework programme will address the strategic road network across the country and comprises 13 lots. Bidders are being invited to tender for works that will include civil engineering, traffic management, drainage, structural and concrete repairs, landscape and ecology and traffic management projects.

The framework will cover two Road Investment Strategy periods (RIS2 and RIS3) according to Highways England. This is to allow a smooth transition between the two periods. However, full details of the £25 billion RIS2 period may well be delayed until at least early summer due to concerns over climate change.

Further information regarding the framework, such as the number of contractors on each lot and the value of work for each lot will be decided following Highways England's discussions with the firms showing interest in tendering.
