The Spanish Road Association (AEC) has reappointed Juan Francisco Lazcano as its president for the third consecutive term. Lazcano was appointed by the board of directors of the AEC at a meeting in the Madrid headquarters of the Public Work Studies and Experimentation Center (CEDEX). And he will now continue another four years at the head of the AEC.

After his appointment, he addressed the council and commented, “In this stage, my priorities are to address the road network funding problems as well as the traffic emissions”

Lazcano focused on the most important aspects of his work programme for this new mandate. Key factors he intends to concentrate on are a strategy for the funding model of road maintenance, a reduction of CO2 emissions into the atmosphere and a definition of the keys to the mobility of the future. With this last, the AEC is establishing the "Smart Roads" Forum.
