Slovakia highway project on track

Construction of the D1 highway stretch connecting Presov and Kosice in Slovakia is said to be well underway.

Construction of the D1 highway stretch connecting Presov and Kosice in Slovakia is said to be well underway. Around 50% of the work required has so far been completed and the stretch could be ready for traffic in the second quarter of 2021. Driving the tunnel section at Presov commenced three months ahead of schedule. In all the work is costing €327.4 million, with €278.3 million being provided by the EU.

Slovakia's transport minister Arpad Ersek said construction could start by Q3 2019.     Key road construction projects are now moving forward in Bosnia with work on-track for the Sarajevo ringroad as well as the Corridor Vc highway. Construction of a 130km section of the Corridor Vc highway should be complete by 2014 according to Bosnia's Ministry of Transport and Telecoms.   • Slovakia highway funding secured

    Funding is now secured for the Budimir-Bidovce stretch of Slovakia’s D1 highway project. In addition, the funding for the Kosicke Olsany-Hrasovik stretch of the R2-R4 expressway has been secured. The EU’s Cohesion Fund will supply €173 million for the work, which is intended to cut congestion and journey times. New interchanges and noise reduction systems will be built. Also included will be the construction of 23 new bridges.
