Slovakia highway project on track

Construction of the D1 highway stretch connecting Presov and Kosice in Slovakia is said to be well underway.

Construction of the D1 highway stretch connecting Presov and Kosice in Slovakia is said to be well underway. Around 50% of the work required has so far been completed and the stretch could be ready for traffic in the second quarter of 2021. Driving the tunnel section at Presov commenced three months ahead of schedule. In all the work is costing €327.4 million, with €278.3 million being provided by the EU.

    Work on a key portion of a major tunnelling project in Slovakia has been completed. Contractor Doprastav has complete boring of the 2km Ovciarsko tunnel, which forms part of the D1 highway route.
