Russia’s road development programme is being planned

Russia’s Transport Ministry is setting out its plans for a major programme of road development. Called the Safe and High-Quality Roads national project, this programme of works will be for the 2021-2030 period.

The budget calls for a massive US$174.14 billion being spent on improving Russia’s road network. The aim of the programme is to repair, maintain and upgrade some 60% of all the regional roads in Russia, as well as the links between major population centres.

The programme is intended to ensure that all urban locations with a population over 20,00 or more will benefit from Federal funding to improve roads.

In all a healthy US$43.92 billion is being planned for transport infrastructure development in Russia during the 2016-2018 period.
