Massive highway projects are being planned in Russia. One plan calls for a 1,500km highway to connect a number of cities forming Russia’s ‘Golden Ring’. Another project calls for a highway between Sochi and Dzhubga.

The ‘Golden Ring’ project will connect Yaroslavl, Kostroma, Ivanovo, Vladimir, Gus-Khrustalny, Ryazan, Mikhaylov, Tula, Kaluga, Vyazma, Rzhev, Tver, and Uglich. It will include building a number of river crossings and upgrading stretches of the existing R-132 route. However, the cost of the project and the construction timeline have yet to be announced.

Meanwhile, the 120km tolled highway linking Sochi with Dzhubga is due for completion in 2035. The project will include building bypass stretches for Tuapse and Lazarevskoe.
