Road building for Arunchal Pradesh in India

A major road construction programme worth a total of US$2.31 billion is being planned for Arunachal Pradesh in India. The planned work would see the construction of around 800km of roads, with the programme having been set out by the Indian body, National Highways & Infrastructure Development (NHIDCL). The programme would account for around half of NHIDCL's total investments for India as a whole.

A major road construction programme worth a total of US$2.31 billion is being planned for Arunachal Pradesh in India. The planned work would see the construction of around 800km of roads, with the programme having been set out by the Indian body, National Highways & Infrastructure Development (NHIDCL). The programme would account for around half of NHIDCL's total investments for India as a whole. NHIDCL is working on plans for a four lane dual carriageway link connecting Nagaon with Tinsukia in eastern Arunachal. NHIDCL is also involved with the project to widen the Nagaon-Hollongi highway to four lanes. This last project should be ready for traffic in 18th months.

According to the country’s Minister of State for Transport and Highways, Sarvey Sathyanarayana, the conversion works will be completed within the next three to five years. In the last fiscal year of 2012/2013, six stretches of state highways in Andhra Pradesh were converted to National Highways, covering a distance of more than 1,800km.
